Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)
The following is the policy all customers must abide by when using their UsenetGuide service. It outlines the various acceptable uses for your account and what we consider abuse. By signing up and/or using your UsenetGuide account, you agree to abide by this policy and to keep updated on changes. This policy may change at any time.

Account Services
All UsenetGuide accounts are single user accounts. These accounts should be used by the owner of the account only, and there should only be one concurrent login session at any time. Failure to comply with this regulation is in direct conflict with the Terms & Conditions which every customer should have read and has agreed to by using our service.

Net Etiquette
At UsenetGuide, we would like every customer to have the best Internet experience possible; however, we do not wish it to be at other customers’ expense. The Internet is a global computer network which is comprised of people from diverse backgrounds. When communicating with people on the Internet, it is best to keep in mind that there is another person on the other end of the computer that you are communicating with. Please treat others with the same respect as you would like to be treated.

Free Speech
UsenetGuide promotes free speech and believes all users are entitled to their opinion. Users must ensure that their opinion and use of free speech do not breach Netiquette. Threats of any kind are not tolerated. We apply fair use rules when quoting copywritten works.

Copyrights
Almost every country has copyright laws and there are international copyright laws. UsenetGuide cannot and does not review the information flowing through or stored on our system. When you become a UsenetGuide customer, you are agreeing not to transfer or store copyrighted works on our system without the written permission of the copyright holder.

Content
The content of USENET newsgroups is not regulated by UsenetGuide; therefore, UsenetGuide is not liable for their contents.

Commercial Posts
Commercial posts are frowned upon in many newsgroups. If you are attempting to sell goods or services, please make sure you do so in the proper forums (*.forsale, business groups, etc.) and ensure the FAQ/charter for the group allows such postings. If you are unsure if what you want to post is permitted please contact us.

Chain Letters/Pyramid Schemes
According to United States and Canadian law, chain letters and pyramid schemes are illegal. If you are found to be posting these to the newsgroups, your account will be terminated. Chain letters and pyramid schemes fall under the category of abuse and spam and penalties are similar.

Posting to Usenet
Certain newsgroups are specifically designated as allowing binary files to be posted, and some are designated for binary posts only. It is well accepted all over Usenet that binary files will be posted only in designated groups. Posting of binaries or text articles inappropriately, regardless of whether explicitly stated in a newsgroup charter or FAQ will bring your account under review for possible termination.

System Security
You will not attempt to bypass any security features of the system or this website or attempt to access features of the system or this website that you do not have normal access to and have not been given permission to access.

Spam and Abuse
Spam is the repeated posting of articles to inappropriate newsgroups and/or posting messages that are offtopic for the purpose of advertising/promotion whether for commercial or personal gain. UsenetGuide does not tolerate spam in any form. UsenetGuide is very strict about spamming. You agree to not spam, and you agree to avoid heavy repetitive posting, as that may look like spam.
You may also not send any messages that flood usenet, this includes Excessive Multi Posting (EMP) which is defined as posting more than two (2) identical messages in any one (1) newsgroup and Excessive Cross Posting (ECP) which is defined as cross posting to more than four (4) groups at once and SPORGE.
While UsenetGuide does not honor cancel messages, they may be propogated to other systems. You may not post cancel messages unless it is your own message(s) that you are cancelling. Supercedes may not be posted unless you are superceding your own articles.
If you are determined to have spammed or abused the system or your account has been used to spam or abuse the system, you will be charged a $50US cleanup fee per spam/abuse message that you post, and your account will be terminated.
Spammers may have their contact information given out to people who report abuse at our discretion. This includes name, address, telephone number and any other information we have available. You will not be informed to this release of information.

Posting Access
Posting access is disabled on all new accounts automatically. To have posting access enabled you must contact us and request that it be enabled. If you are reported for abuse you will have your account suspended or posting suspended. You will only be contacted if your account is suspended. If posting access is removed we will not contact you. Starting July 15 2005 all users requesting posting access must show usage on their account equal to a minimum of 50% of their account size.

We do not monitor what is downloaded or viewed from our system, we only monitor bandwidth use. All posters to usenetguide have their nntp posting host removed for their privacy. The only way we will reveal your information is with a court order unless you are a spammer. Spammers may have their contact information given out to people who report abuse at our discretion. This includes name, address, telephone number and any other information we have available. You will not be informed to this release of information.
